This is an exotic sounding bass flute, with a hybrid japanese sounding scale: a mixture between the kokin and the akebono modes. It is 75 cm (~30 inches) long and 5 cm (1.99in) in diameter. It is tuned in F#3.

The holes sizes range between 8 and 10 mm.

Although it is a considerably long flute for a beginner, the fingering pattern makes it a bit easier for anyone with small hands to play it. Nevertheless, it still requires a stretch! It has five frontal holes. This oriental mode with its moody tone makes it a great meditative instrument.

This piece of adult Phyllostachys bamboo was cured by the shade and both the interior and exteior were protected with almonds oil and beeswax. It was then fire treated and finished with dark waxed thread, giving it a rustic oriental look.

Please note that this flute has natural imperfections and is not perfectly straight! :)
